UPCOMING EVENT

The Ujima Pan African Media Archives (UPAMA) organization will be presenting a virtual panel discussion on “Critical Race Theory: The Facts and The Fiction,” Saturday, October 23, 2021, 2:00 pm–4:00 pm (EST).

The discussion will seek to clarify the subject and explore the way Black academia and media have been misrepresented in addressing this topic. The panel will also outline an approach on how the Black community can best defend against and debunk any counterarguments.

The October 23rd panel discussion will feature Tanya K. Hernandez, Archibald R. Murray Professor of Law at Fordham University and author of Multiracials and Civil Rights: Mixed Race Stories of Discrimination; Jamel K. Donner, associate professor of education at William and Mary School of Education, who co-edited Scandals in College Sports and Critical Race Theory in Education: All God’s Children Got a Song, among other books; and David E. Kirkland, executive director of New York University Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools.

The program will be moderated by Bernard White, former host of Pacifica Radio’s WBAI-FM “Emanations” and “Wake-Up Call.” White is also co-founder of Community for Progressive Radio–Metro.
